Planned Giving: The Breast Cancer Fund Legacy Circle
Planned giving incorporates your charitable gift with your overall financial, tax and estate planning goals to maximize benefits to both you and the Breast Cancer Fund. There can also be significant tax advantages for donating to a 501(c)(3) organization. Through a bequest, you may perpetuate your current level of giving or make a major gift that might not otherwise be possible (for instance, you may need to retain liquidity during your lifetime). This type of gift can provide you with comfort in knowing that your generosity will extend beyond your lifetime.
The Breast Cancer Fund established the Legacy Circle to promote planned giving and to honor those individuals who have included the Breast Cancer Fund in their estate planning. Because this is such an important decision for you, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your options before making a commitment. We would also be happy to speak to your representative, such as a lawyer or financial advisor. (It is highly recommended that you consult with your own tax or legal advisors prior to making a planned gift.) For more information or to further discuss planned gifts, contact Bruce Beery, Director of Development, at 866-760-8223 x11 or bbeery@breastcancerfund.org.
Gifts of Stock or Other Annuities
A gift of stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year can provide much-needed support for the Breast Cancer Fund and offer you financial benefits as well. Publicly traded securities (stocks, bonds, etc.) may be transferred to the Breast Cancer Fund, entitling you to an income tax deduction for the full market value of the securities. With a gift of securities to the Breast Cancer Fund, you avoid any capital gains taxes you might be liable for if you sell the stock. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock. Gifts of appreciated securities that pay little or no dividends make especially good choices for charitable contributions.
To transfer your securities to the Breast Cancer Fund, call Charles Schwab at 1-800-435-4000 and give them the following information:
DTC # 0164, Code 40
Account Number: 7378-5610
If you would like more information, please contact Bruce Beery, Director of Development, at 866-760-8223 x11 or bbeery@breastcancerfund.org.
Car Donations
We have teamed up with Donate For Charity, a company that processes vehicle donations for nonprofit organizations. Donate For Charity arranges a free vehicle pickup, handles all the DMV issues, sells the vehicle at auction, and distributes the net proceeds to the Breast Cancer Fund. By donating, you'll avoid the headache of selling a used vehicle, help support us, and receive a receipt entitling you to declare the fair market value of your vehicle as a tax deduction. When you are ready to donate, or want to learn more, simply visit Donate For Charity or call toll-free at 866-392-4483.
Events and Special Occasions
Supporters across the country host events each year to benefit the Breast Cancer Fund, from hikes to shopping events, bowling to tennis tournaments. Participate in an event near you, or host your own. You can also use your wedding, birthday or other special occasions to share your favorite cause with loved ones. Requesting donations instead of traditional gifts is a great way to spread awareness and support of the Breast Cancer Fund. Contact Julie Homan, Senior Cause Marketing Coordinator, at jhoman@breastcancerfund.org or 866-760-8223 x15 to learn more.
