Climb Against the Odds 2012

Inspired to climb? From June 17–23, 2012, a team of dedicated women and men from across the country will take part in an experience of a lifetime to help stop breast cancer before it starts: climbing Northern California's 14,179-foot Mt. Shasta. Climb Against the Odds is the Breast Cancer Fund's annual mountaineering expedition for breast cancer prevention. The climb represents both a personal endeavor to honor the courage it takes to face breast cancer, and a collective effort to stop the disease before it starts.
Each year we have space for up to 40 climbers, each of whom must submit an application and be approved before officially joining the team. From the moment climbers apply through the moment they reach their personal summit, they are fully supported by the Breast Cancer Fund in training, fundraising and climbing. Assistance is also provided to each team member through a training leader, mentor and regional team to assist them in reaching their goals. Experience is optional, but inspiration is guaranteed!
The Breast Cancer Fund has led 12 successful mountaineering expeditions of inspiring women and men, who climb to honor loved ones who have faced the disease and, for many, to honor their own experiences with cancer.

Past Expeditions
The Breast Cancer Fund's past Climb Against the Odds expeditions include Mt. Aconcagua, Argentina in 1995; Alaska's Mt. McKinley in 1998; Mt Fuji, Japan in 2000; Mt. Shasta, California in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011; and Mt. Rainier in 2005.
