Horst Rechelbacher

Horst Rechelbacher is an innovative businessman whose passion for the environment and natural medicine led to a new consciousness in the world of beauty. As the founder of the plant-based cosmetic companies Aveda Corporation and Intelligent Nutrients, he has worked to set a high bar in the personal care industry by using only 100 percent food-based, safe and organic ingredients.

Horst has also played an integral role in supporting national efforts, though the Breast Cancer Fund's Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, to protect the health of consumers and workers by securing corporate, regulatory and legislative reforms necessary to eliminate chemicals from cosmetics and personal care products linked to cancer.

We honored his innovation and leadership with a Breast Cancer Fund Hero Award in 2011.
