Welcome home, climbers!

Thirty-three breast cancer survivors, supporters and others impacted by the disease challenged Mt. Shasta's west face on June 18 with the Breast Cancer Fund's Climb Against the Odds mountain expedition.

This year's climb was a huge success for the climb team, the Breast Cancer Fund and the town of Mt. Shasta. In all, 31 of 33 climbers reached the summit under clear skies, despite high winds. Reports from the mountain during the climb are still available on the Breast Cancer Fund's blog, Not My Breasts.

The Climb Against the Odds team embarked on a journey both emotional and physical, and returned with new friends and an impassioned drive to share their stories so we can prevent breast cancer for future generations. Thank you, climbers and supporters, for your dedication!

About Climb Against the Odds

At 14,162 feet, Mt. Shasta stands as the most striking mountain in Northern California and is home to California's largest glaciers. Besides training for the peak attempt, climbers commit to raising a minimum of $5,000 for the Breast Cancer Fund's work to prevent the disease. We provide the support to achieve both.

Applications for Climb Against the Odds 2009 will be available in August. There are only 40 spaces on the team, so apply early! For more information about the climb, contact Connie George at connie@breastcancerfund.org or (866) 760-8223 x30.

Past Climb Against the Odds Expeditions

Climb Against the Odds Mt. Shasta 2008 follows in the tradition of the Breast Cancer Fund's past expeditions: Mt. Aconcagua, Argentina in 1995; Alaska's Mt. McKinley in 1998; Mt Fuji, Japan in 2000, Mt. Shasta, California in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007 and Mt. Rainier in 2005.
