Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 6th annual Bike Against the Odds, a fundraising ride for breast cancer prevention.

With 26 teams and 377 total cyclists, Bike Against the Odds 2008 was another successful event, raising over $138,325 for the Breast Cancer Fund.  The proceeds also helped to support three East Bay breast cancer service organizations: Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic, Friends of Faith, and Women's Cancer Resource Center

A special thank you goes to our top fundraising team, the Oakland Yellowjackets Bicycle Club, and our top individual fundraiser, David Marchi.

On August 23, Bike Against the Odds participants gathered at Oakland's Lake Merritt to begin their ride.  Cyclists then traveled through downtown Oakland and up to the ridgelines of the East Bay hills.  With four route options, participants rode 31 to 103 miles, with 2,660 to 10,000 feet of climbing.

After the ride, all of the participants returned to Lake Merritt for a community celebration with organic food, entertainment, free massages and an information expo on breast cancer prevention and how to reduce our exposure to everyday chemicals linked to the disease.

Thank you for all of your support. For the date of our 2009 Bike Against the Odds, please check back or sign up for our e-newsletter »
